With the newest update, Spotify has brought in several new features. It has updated the Home page, it has added the Podcast feed, and it has even added an enhanced feature. If you are a big fan of this music service, you should definitely check out the changes that are available.
Home page design changes
Spotify has announced it will be introducing a new design for its home page. The revamp will bring a lot of elements into focus. These include podcasts, playlists, and new releases.
For starters, the Spotify home page will feature podcasts and playlists, based on what you listen to now and the type of music you like. Spotify will also feature new artists and releases, and recommend songs and albums. This is part of a company effort to improve recommendations.
Spotify is also tweaking its app. Users will now be able to download specific tracks to their library from the desktop. And, the search bar has been moved to the middle of the screen. There will be a “made for you” section that will change based on time of day.
In addition, the Spotify Music feed will provide suggestions for playlists and new episodes of shows. It’s a similar setup to Pandora’s tab, which customizes content based on the user’s listening habits.
Spotify’s redesign is also aiming to address the common criticism of its interface. In particular, the app’s quality buttons are hard to copy and paste. However, the redesign will fix this problem by creating a simpler user interface. That means you’ll be able to find new content more easily, and Spotify has made the search bar much faster.
The new look features dark backgrounds with lighter text, which makes featured content stand out. Also, Spotify has opted for two icon sizes. Currently, the icons are 1.5 pixels in size, which will gradually grow to 2 pixels.
The design system team at Spotify has partnered with iconographer Rob Bartlett to create the new look. It borrows a lot from social networks, with softer edges and heavy blurring on background images.
The updated Spotify home screen will be rolled out to all users today. Those who have at least 30 days of listening history will be able to see the new design. Once the app is launched, you’ll be able to start streaming more quickly.
With the new redesign, Spotify’s Home tab will offer separate feeds for Music, Podcasts & Shows, and Personalized. As with other areas of the app, the layout is meant to be simple and intuitive.
Enhanced feature
A new Enhance feature has just been added to Spotify. This feature adds a small plus sign to the right of each recommendation, and can be a great way to discover new music and expand your playlist. However, users may have to wait for the Enhance feature to roll out in their region.
It’s worth noting that the Enhance feature is only available on Android and iOS devices, and is not available to non-subscribers. The feature is also available in some countries. If you’re interested in trying it out, you can follow the steps below.
First, you’ll need to enable the Enhance feature. To do this, open the Spotify app and select your playlist. Tap the small plus sign in the top right-hand corner of the song you’d like to see a suggested addition to.
Next, you’ll notice a green sparkle icon below the title of the song. That’s the first indicator that the song is a recommended addition. Unlike other similar features, the Enhance feature will not replace any songs you have already added to your playlist.
Next, you’ll notice dozens of recommendations. These recommendations are displayed in a separate section of the playlist called the ‘collection for you’. They’re not necessarily the newest or the most popular. You may get recommendations based on the content of the song, your musical preferences, or your previous listening history.
In the future, Spotify plans to expand its Enhanced feature to other countries. Right now, only 40 of the world’s most populous nations have access to the feature, but it is expected to be rolled out to more countries in the coming months.
Finally, the Spotify Enhance feature has other advantages. It allows you to create and save personalized playlists based on your tastes and interests. For example, if you are a fan of the classic rock genre, you’ll be able to save a playlist with the latest rock hits. Plus, you can add up to 30 recommended tracks to your playlist.
Overall, the Enhance feature is a neat little addition to Spotify’s already comprehensive playlist options. Even if you’re not a Spotify Premium subscriber, the features can be useful.
Podcast feed
Spotify has announced a new update for its music and podcasting app. The changes will help users find new shows and music more easily. These updates are being rolled out globally over the coming weeks.
First, Spotify has revamped its home feeds. This allows you to find new content without opening and closing multiple windows. It’s also made the experience more personalized. You can scroll through the Music and Podcasts & Shows feeds without having to leave the main page.
In addition, there’s a new What’s New section that will feature podcasts, music releases, and other notable new items. To access it, you’ll need to use the new bell icon on the top right of the home screen.
For podcasts, you can expect personalized recommendations based on listening history and your preferences. A dedicated Podcast and Shows feed will allow you to read descriptions and play episodes without leaving the page.
Before you can take advantage of any of these features, you’ll need to register an account with Spotify and create a podcast. After signing up, you’ll need to verify your email. Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to claim your podcast.
Once you’ve claimed your podcast, you can then start adding your RSS feed to the Spotify for Podcasters tab. In addition to the standard feed, you’ll be able to save and play episodes in the Your Episodes list.
Spotify has also been testing a new podcast discovery tab. This will show you new podcasts in a TikTok-style carousel. If you like what you see, you can follow your favorite podcasters, add them to your listening queue, and share their soundbites with your friends.
Lastly, you can turn off the podcast feed. In the meantime, you can still listen to your favorite podcasts by tapping the “Listen to” button on the bottom right of the page.
The Spotify app will soon roll out a revamped home feed for mobile. The split between music and podcasts will make it easier for you to keep track of new episodes. However, it’s important to wait to delete your old program before updating your podcast feed.
Blocking feature
Spotify has a new blocking feature that was launched in January. This will allow you to block people and music. The update was released in response to a series of celebrity scandals. It will also allow you to block the music of certain artists on the global charts.
The feature has been requested for a long time. Previously, the only way to block someone on Spotify was to call their customer service. Luckily, now you can do this yourself.
When Spotify launched their new blocking feature, they had to change their hate content policy. Now, if a user hates a song or artist, they will get a notification that the song or artist is blocked.
Unlike other social networks, blocking on Spotify does not require you to make your account private. Instead, you can block other people by changing their display name. You can also permanently block a person. In addition, the blocked user will be removed from your follower list.
Blocking is a great tool for Spotify users who don’t want to hear from a particular person or artist. However, this feature is not as powerful as other social networks.
As with other streaming services, it will be difficult to know if you are listening to songs or playlists from blocked users. However, it does help create a more personal music experience. Moreover, blocking users doesn’t require you to lock your phone.
Users will be able to block random users from their follower list, search tab, or even from their profiles. Besides, you can also block an artist from appearing in your Daily Mixes. Ultimately, Spotify is trying to protect you and ensure a safe environment.
Spotify’s blocking feature is currently available on mobile and desktop apps. If you don’t have access to either, you can use the Friend Activity sidebar to block a user. After that, you can then unblock the user later.
There is no information on when this feature will be available for Indian users, but you should update your Spotify app to the latest version. Once this feature is available for all users, you can start utilizing it.
